We have several clients looking at Cazoomi.com to do this type of revamp to their current sites. (ours included)

Ideas and skill sets needed?

If so I would love to grab a resource who could be on our ZOOMILite teams this next month.

The move from 2.0 to 3.0 in ActionScript is usually quite significant and often requires a lot of rewriting from the ground up. IF someone had built an ActionScript 2.0 document using for example event listeners and a class based structure of coding, then it would be easier than one built with older style event listeners with code on top of movieclips, which is not supported in AS 3.0.

It really comes down to whether they were following (optional) good programming standards in AS 2.0 even though they were not really required then.

When we redid our flash cart, we started from the ground up and redid it. We had a good roadmap of where to go since we had done it all in AS 2.0, but it still took a significant amount of time rewriting.

othes may weigh in on this topic and their experiences?

This is great advice and why out of all the sites and Flash carts we looked at last year I knew we found the best here on the SME side of things. "significant amount of time"? means a lot of things so what then would be the instant advantages of conversion given this time cost?

Also, our group needs to get more people over on this board as I think your site could be a mecca for our flash developers who have chipped in on Cazoomi.com and CnCpartners.com. Any way to tweet these links to the board topics like I do in Getsatisfaction.com when I find one on our team could chime in on for you all?

If you have something in AS 2.0 and it works well, there really may not be a reason to upgrade, unless down the long term road you are looking to scale things and keep up with technologies. AS3.0 is much faster, but for many apps, it's hard to tell a difference (in my own opinion). My software for example I want to be continually evolving, but if I made a small application and it was in AS 2.0 and it worked just fine, leave it alone.

Also, feel free to send all your Flash guys over here... it can be general flash questions, and topics all revolving around flash... I can answer questions here more efficiently than other places... and I have other guys here that can answer questions if we start to get folks coming.

It's a nice quiet board at the moment... kind of nice :)

later... and how is cazoomi doing since it's first launch these last couple weeks?

Yeah, we are staying with what we have but changing some of the design we did not really want from the beginning but were stuck with due to our designer:)

We are releasing some integrations to many of our Xchange Partners so that has kept me busy for a while doing that....not so quiet over here but I think now my flash guys are getting less busy will take you up on the offer.

our other site is done but needs content editing so busy this weekend with that and will submit it if we can get a cart in there...it is our social biz so let me know as we will only sell one thing..raffle tickets to the our org here:

Stay tuned for our Cazoomi press coming later this month too! Not quite ready for the cart but closer:)
